Dental Implants

Dental Implants is equivalent to the root of the tooth. It is embedded in the bone of the mandible or maxilla and is a pillar of the prosthetic restoration such as a crown, bridge or denture. Dental implants are the only solution in dentistry that does not mask the lack of tooth, but plays well functioning and great looking new tooth. The implants are made of titanium. This material is completely biocompatible, and therefore the body sees it as its integral part. Implantation (surgical part) is to introduce it in such a way that the jawbone rebuilt itself tightly around it. This process is called “osseointegration” and allows for stable and strong maintenance of the new tooth.

The implantation of the dental implants does not complete a missing tooth. To restore the full functionality of prosthetic, reconstruction is needed such as a crown, bridge or denture, which is attached to the implant or implants. This part is called prosthetic, which is made on the last day of osseointegration.
There are different ways and possibilities of prosthetic depending on what material we use.
For more information about the prosthetic solution please read on.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Most generally healthy people can have dental implants treatments. Patients must have healthy gums, periodontal and bone sufficient in order for  the implant to be stable. It is necessary to maintain exemplary oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist. If you are considering implant treatment our doctors are happy to consult on whether the implants are the right solution for You. Cases when implants may be contraindicated or require individual preparation include:

  •      Smoking – which slows down and stops the healing process,
  •      Excessive alcohol consumption – prevents periodontal healing process,
  •      Periodontal disease (periodontitis) – periodontal disease must be cured before proceeding to implantation to ensure long-term success,
  •      People with weakened immune systems – those taking steroids, autoimmune diseases, or patients undergoing radiotherapy
  •      People with pathological clash of teeth (bruxism) – can be used for relaxation rail

What is the success rate of the dental implants treatment?

Usually, the success rate is 98% and depends on the site of implantation. With proper care and adequate postoperative oral hygiene (see below), implants can be used by the patient for life.

Is the dental implants placement painful?

Most implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia. With modern treatment techniques and anesthesia, most patients do not report discomfort during the procedure. After surgery, minor pain and discomfort caused by them can be mitigated with  painkillers. Our doctors will advise you what to use.

How many teeth can be rebuilt on the same dental implants?

Traditionally, one implant holds one crown. However, if you are missing a few teeth you do not necessarily need an implant for every missing tooth: one implant can keep the crown by doing some prosthetic bridge or denture. Amount required for reconstruction implants depends on the volume and density of bone tissue at the implantation site of each implant. In the case of the reconstruction of the arch kept on implants are required a minimum of 4 implants in the upper jaw and two implants in the lower jaw. The exact number of implants is determined individually. After a detailed study of our implantology exactly determines how many implants are required.

How long does the implant treatment takes?

In our study a single implant dentist usually takes about one hour.  The procedure performed under local anesthesia. Implantable device requires healing and connection to the bone. It takes about 3-4 months in the mandible (lower) and 5-6 months in the maxilla (upper). At this time, the implant is completely concealed under the gum. When the healing time will pass, and the implant is firmly integrated into the bone starts prosthetic part, ie the imposition of the crown, bridge or denture.

If you have too little or too weak bones and bone treatments will be needed for bone regeneration, the entire process can be extended for 12 months or longer. Our implantology determine exactly how long it will take your treatment.

How can I tell if I have enough bone for an implant?

Performing a combination of radiographic and tomographic images of our implantology will be able to accurately assess the quality, density and volume of your bones. At the same time images allow it to gather information about adjacent anatomical structures to avoid during the treatment, such as nerves and sinuses.

What happens if I have enough bone to hold the implant?

In today’s dentistry, there are effective methods for augmentation of bone level in order to obtain the correct implementation, stabilization and maintenance of the implant. In our office, we perform sinus lift (sinus) and guided bone regeneration (GBR).

How long do implants last?

Dental implants are used for the past 30 years. Since the implantation may be accompanied by the patient for life, depending on how well it’s maintained. As with any supplement your rebuilt on the implant tooth can be damaged by trauma, periodontal disease or improper oral hygiene.

How should I care for implants?

Dental implants require the same care as natural teeth, including brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing.  No less than two cheackups by your dentist in a year and removal of tartar (scaling). Poor oral hygiene can lead to inflammation of the gingival tissue around the implant. Chronic gingivitis cause bone loss that can lead to expose the implant. It was therefore held to take care of the implant is necessary but does not require anything more than the corresponding Standard oral hygiene.

How much are implants?

Price dental implants depends on several factors such as: quantities of implants, prosthetic type and if necessary, treatment of bone augmentation. Typically, the cost of treatment is divided in time into two parts. Some surgical implantation and covering part of the prosthetic where we apply a suitable prosthetic reconstruction such as a crown or bridge on implants.

In our study the total cost of implanting a single implant with a porcelain crown on a metal substructure is £Please call. Cost of all-ceramic crown on implant is £please call. In our price list, you can find the individual prices of all procedures used in implant treatment. At the same time, we offer you the option of paying in instalments for implant treatment. For more information about the prices of various treatment options and prosthetic implant according to the number of missing teeth can be found on Fee Guide.

What is the reconstruction and can it be carried out on implants?

Our practice offers porcelain crowns and bridges on the foundation of the metal or all-ceramic zirconia. Cost performance crowns on implants are higher than crowns made with natural root due to connectors or fasteners crown-to-implant.

Is it safe to have a dental implants treatment?

Treatments in today’s dental implant has become routine, but as with any surgery, complications may occur. To reduce the risk of complications to a minimum all our doctors perform a number of specialized research, and sometimes before the actual implant treatment is necessary preparatory treatment.
