Straighter teeth will improve the attractiveness of your smile, and studies show that this can increase self-confidence and self-esteem. Additionally, straighter teeth are easier for you to keep clean.
Teeth can be straightened at any age and an increasing number of adults are receiving treatment to improve the appearance of their smile and increase their confidence. It may be that you have had orthodontic treatment in the past but have experienced relapse which you would like to address.
There are a variety of orthodontic appliances available, and your dentist will advise you regarding the most suitable options for your specific needs. Fixed appliances use metal, clear or tooth-coloured brackets attached to the teeth, whereas the Invisalign system uses removable clear aligners. Arrange a complimentary consultation with dentists Dr Anna McLellan or Dr Magdalena Wojcicka to discuss your treatment options.
Q. How does it work?
Once it has been confirmed that you are eligible for treatment, photographs, x-rays and impressions will be taken of your teeth. A series of custom-made aligners are provided for you to wear every day for the recommended 22 hours a day. You will change your aligner on average every 1-2 weeks. The aligners are comfortable, removable and nearly invisible. You will visit your dentist every 6-8 weeks to monitor your progress and receive new aligners. CFast uses special tooth-coloured nickel titanium wires and clear brackets to gently straighten your teeth. Retainers will be required to maintain your new smile.
Q. How long does it take?
Straightening your teeth can take as little as 3 months. Because Invisalign and CFast focus on straightening only the front ‘visible’ teeth, it is much quicker than traditional orthodontics. Traditional orthodontics may take up to two years as a result of treating the whole dentition.
Q. Will my teeth stay straight afterwards?
After straightening your teeth, we advise that you wear a removable retainer at night-time to support your teeth in their new position. It is also possible to have a retainer bonded in place behind your teeth.
Q. Does it hurt?
The forces used to move your teeth are light, and therefore both Invisalign and CFast are comfortable. You may experience a feeling of pressure when the aligner or wire is changed, which means that your teeth are moving.
Q. How much does it cost?
The cost of tooth straightening depends upon the complexity of your treatment. But your teeth can be straightened from just £2200.
Q. Am I suitable for tooth straightening?
Invisalign and CFast treatments are suitable for many people, and there is no age limit! Please arrange a complimentary consultation with Dr Anna McLellan or Dr Magdalena Wojcicka to discuss improving your smile and the right treatment for you.
