How much you pay for NHS dental treatment depends on what clinical treatment you need. Some people are eligible for free NHS dental treatment.
For full details of costs and eligibility, please visit the NHS Choices website. If you are eligible for free dental treatment, we ask that you bring proof of your eligibility to your appointment.
The current NHS treatment bands and charges are as follows with effect from 01/04/24:
Band 1 course of treatment | £26.80 |
---|
This covers examination, diagnosis, x-rays, preventative advice and treatment, and a scale and polish where clinically indicated. |
Band 2 course of treatment | £73.50 |
---|
This includes all aspects of band 1 treatment, plus fillings, root canal treatments and removal of teeth. |
Band 3 course of treatment | £319.10 |
---|
This includes all aspects of band 1 and 2 treatments, plus crowns, dentures and bridges. |
Band 4 emergency treatment | £26.80 |

If you require urgent dental care you will pay the same as a band 1 course of treatment to manage your urgent condition. You will then be recommended to return for a full examination and further treatment as necessary under the relevant course of treatment band to restore your oral health. |
